anyhoo…i wasn’t looking for a doodle project or another list…but cornflower blue studios‘ rotating goal list left me no choice. this project became my number one priority. well, after i fed my kids of course. she gives detailed instructions on making one yourself too. a true tutorial!

and here is my version.

at work, i’m getting an office to share with my counterpart. YAY! and with this change, i’d like to try to keep focused. my vision for this was to help motivate me, make me smile and keep me on task. this will definitely do all those things. and it’s pretty!

some deets about this project:

i used 11×14 poster board that i had on hand.
doodled in pencil. erased frequently. finished with black pen.
the only think i traced were the stars. everything else is drawn by hand.
i worked on it in spurts between saturday morning and sunday afternoon.
every step of the measuring and placing and sketching made me as happy as a bird with a french fry.

what makes you happy like this? we all need that thing that can take us out of any funk. for me, it varies. but it always includes music.

SATURDAY:

my gram’s memorial service. she didn’t want us in mourning so i chose not to wear all black. i found a couple of pieces at michael’s that i knew that they would be perfect for today. the medallion and the chain were separate but totally worked out. the ring…my goodness the ring. swoon. gram would have loved them!

SUNDAY: just a lazy day at home in the sun. can you tell i’ve had some sun from that cheesy smile. it makes me so happy! pardon the mirror…i think i have already said i need to clean it. boy…i suck at housecleaning sometimes.

tuesday | feb 14:

i realize it was valentine’s day but matt had a ton of work to do and i wanted to get the kids out of the house so he could work quietly. we headed over to the bounce palace and for $15, these kids bounced their little hearts out. and the best part was that from 4:30 to 6:00 we had the whole place to ourselves. i even got my bounce on too!

after bouncing, we went to eat at Chik-fil-A because i was craving it like a mad-woman. yes…i drive 25 minutes to eat there. thankfully they are finally building one in our town. maybe it’s not so good. =)

we gave the boys their v-day buckets and mama got snuggles.

wednesday | feb 15:

took the day off because matt haaaad to go up to Incline Village for work. gorgeous view, right? yeah, i’m a little jealous that this is work for him. lucky dog.

i went up to my Gram’s house to help my mom clean out her closets. found some real treasures in there. i also had to take pictures of the piano she left to me. i am faced with a major dilemma: i do not have room for it. but i’ve wanted it since i was a little girl. my Gram has had this piano since 1959 and this is the piano my mom played growing up. Gram was a music teacher and choir director at her church. music was her life. the piano is more of a part of her than anything else on this earth. so i guess you can say it’s important to me. i am so torn up inside about it. how can i just sell it? what can i get rid of in this house so i can make room for it? it’s nearly impossible to do that in this 1000 square foot house of ours. i swear…in 1 year we will probably be in a new house that would have plenty of room for this gem. i have a feeling i’m going to regret selling it. but what choice do i have? must pray on it some more.

i know you guys have seen my phone case once or twice.

saturday | feb 18:

today was my gram’s memorial service. i took some snapshots throughout the day.

gibson and my niece. they are 8 months apart.

in honor of my gram, i found some vintage silhouette pieces at michael’s to make a necklace to wear to her service.

this sunset pretty much tells the story of the day. even with all the darkness and clouds, there is always a light that is bright enough to shine through. you just have to look.

sunday | feb 19:

O.M.G. we bought a truck! eeeeekkk! we have wanted this exact car for like a decade now. every time we find one, we can never fully commit to it. something just always keeps us from closing the deal. until last night. matt found a great deal so we went that evening to look at it. neither of us wanted to leave it there but we decided to sleep on it. the dealership opened at 10:00 and we arrived at 10:01, ready to sign.

it’s so pretty and it roars. it roars and makes my heart melt.

the temp says 54 degrees…but it felt more like 66. i started off doodling at the kitchen table when marshall went down for his nap but the sunshine called for me. i dropped the pen and picked up my new embroidery project and headed out back. i let the sun soak my feet with warmth and it was the absolute best thing for my soul.

how about a little sneak at one of the three new stitchery project i have up my sleeve.

well that’s about it folks. it was kind of a monster of a week. a lot going on with us and i am enjoying it all.

well…being the rebel that i am, i decided to take 11 pictures on the 11th. (psst…really it was just because i couldn’t easily take a photo an hour at work and i knew i’d get so much cool stuff on a saturday.) rebel or not, i love the idea of the random snapshot at hour intervals. you wanna see what we were up to last weekend?

9am: cleaning up marshall’s room

10am: cleaning behind the tv and installing the new blu-ray player

11am: utilized an old tv stand for our bottles and some snacks since we don’t have a pantry

1pm: naptime (well, almost)

3pm: shows (Mike the Knight, specifically)

4pm: the new do. thinner and lighter with more layers.

5pm: loving the band perry

6pm: angry birds

so as you can also tell, i’ve kinda been obsessed with pictures lately. my drive and motivation for the craftier side of life is just hanging out somewhere else right now. it’s only temporary though. no need to freak out.

tuesday | feb 7

one of my favorite buttons to push. but today was my day to quit the coke. so i won’t be pushing that button again…but it means a lot to me.

tonight was the beginning of a big change for our family. i attended Gibson’s middle school orientation. yikes! he’ll be in 6th grade a week after he turns 11. big changes. big steps. big responsibilities. we are so ready for this!

wednesday | feb 8

#febphotoaday today is sun. i drive to work everyday with the set rising behind me. it’s always beautiful and i’m so happy to have captured it today.

thanks to my girl Tawnya, the only outfit i snapped all week and it was my FAVORITE!

thursday | feb 9

my front door is brown and ugly. i also don’t own it so it’s nothing special. but on the inside, above the door, are four letters. these four letters are a statement of my attitude that it’s not the walls that make the home, it’s the love and the people inside that makes it a home.

a trip to the park…and of course he brings fluffy dog.

another huge milestone that could alter our lives…today i submitted registration paperwork for marshall to attend junior kindergarten in august. he’s ready so if there’s enough space for him, he’ll be heading off to school in six months. what a year this will be.

while i was reading to marshall before bed…matt wrote this on my wall. seriously still makes me cry.

i swear i gave birth to monkeys.

i dropped off my marsh-man with my folks for a couple days and took advantage of the alone time. went straight to the salon for a mani/pedi. then a let my feet soak in the sun while we waited for matt do film some things.

my first time getting the gel coat. i’ll let you know how it holds up. so far…loving it!

working on project life and jammin’ to tunes, this little diddy came on and it was so perfect because gibson has just came in from throwing out the trash and was excited that it was raining. such a great and quiet night. matt and i got a bit more caught up on IDOL after gibson went to bed. i miss marshall like crazy but will enjoy the break for sure.

since i still haven’t finished my december daily album, i’m kinda gonna skip over december and head into january. i’m stoked about using my 2×2 instagram and iphone pics along with the pics from my camera. there’s so much project life inspiration on pinterest that i stayed up way too late looking the other night.

life is good, and that’s all i have to say about that.

day 30 | monday:

not a good way to start my week. all was fine after this though. phewie!

day 31 | tuesday:

used my $25 of fresh cash at my scrapbook store before it expired.

then took the boys to eat at Chik-fil-a. tuesdays are kid’s night. they have face painting and a balloon man. gibson asked for a laser gun and marshall asked for an airplane (but he wouldn’t let me get a pic here.)

day 32 | wednesday:

tons of work to follow up on and complete. this was my view.

this was also the day i was planning on going to see my gram after work. she was nearing the end and i hadn’t seen her since we had champagne on new year’s eve. but i got a call from my mom about 9am that she didn’t make it through the night. she was very ready to go home to Jesus. her last 6 months were rough and not how she wanted her end to go down. she was tired of being in that bed and tired of all the poking and prodding. she asked my parents to tell Jesus she was ready. she will be missed.

day 33 | thursday:

gibson’s persuasive writing assignment cracked me up. he must not realize that we have a family laptop that he can use whenever he wants. i guess he just wants his own. he’s got the gift of sellin’ it though. he totally gets that from his daddy.

i couldn’t have a day prompt of “words” without capturing me and the marsh-man reading. i do not read to him as much as i should. so today, i just felt like sitting with him and enjoying a bunch of books. which you might think is normal, but not for me. we’re a 2-book max team. don’t know why, just choose to do other things with him sometimes. so tonight, i let him pick 5 books from his bookshelf and we just snuggled on the recliner and read. it was pure bliss.

day 33 | friday:

came home to gibson just building away with his logos.

day 34 | saturday:

an all day play date with a dear friend and her son. i think we were all meant to be friends. the way they played together proved that for sure. and of course, i love her so that helps.

everything they did and played was their own idea. we never had to parent, i mean prompt, them to do anything. they played hide and seek and made a marching band while we worked on project life!

day 35 | sunday:

we all strolled to the park. matt and gibson played some basketball while me and marshall played at the park.

gibson worked all day on this lollipop. i hope it was worth the $2.29 he paid for it. after lunch we ran a couple errands then came home to vegg and watch the game. i did more project life and will post pics in a new post tomorrow.

i think it’s the sudden increase of other women in my office. we’re growing and just brought on 3 new ladies, who are fabulous by the way. we’re all shoe girls and always want to see what we’re all wearing when we show up. it’s a fun environment that i have missed, being here all alone for such a long time. don’t get me wrong, i’m cool with being the only girl in the room. but having other women around, makes me want to be better. in a lot of different ways. but not in a i’m-actually-better-than-you kinda way. they inspire me. to work harder, to dress better, to be kinder, to comfort more, to nurture, to laugh and to cry more. so i think you’ll be seeing more creative outfits from me, just because i have someone to dress for now. not just the beige walls of this office.

both of my persnickity prints orders came this week which means i have all the pictures to complete 2011 and january 2012. woot! how’s that for awesome-sauce? i’ll be project life’n all through the super bowl too as i holler and hoot and stuff my face with cherry coke, pizza rolls and turkey.
