today is december first! wooohooo!
first day of december rocks for a few reasons:
it’s day 1 of december daily and i’m giddy about it.
there are 15 days until my birthday.
we get to start counting down the days until christmas!!!!!
i made this advent calendar 3 years ago. it’s still holding up but i need to add some new activities to it. gibson snubbed it when i brought it out but then later on he asked me if we were going to fill in some more activities…and he asked with a smile. yeah…he’s down with the countdown.
other than the normal things we put in the calendar, here are some other things i’d like to be able to pick from.
Make a craft.
Have a family Christmas movie night with treats.
Choose a special treat.
Have lunch at a special restaurant with our family.
Read the story about the birth of Jesus.
Go see the lighting ceremony at your church or city.
Go ice skating.
Go to the tree farm.
Have a birthday party for Jesus. Your gifts are promises of service.
Drive around town and see the decorated homes.
Read the nativity story and set up your own nativity.
Deliver Christmas treats to friends and family.
Open one gift on Christmas Eve – we do new pajamas and one toy for the boys.
Color a Christmas picture
Build a snowman or hang up paper snowflakes.
Do something nice for someone.
Call grandma and grandpa and sing a Christmas song.
Take toys to goodwill or church.
Tell a friend at school you think they’re really cool.
Take a special treat to a neighbor.
Pick a name from the giving tree. Find a gift for that person.
Make a small stocking. Drop it off on someone’s door as a surprise.
Make a card for a loved one and send it in the mail.
Recycle some toys to share with others.
Read a Christmas book to your brother.
Light a candle and say a prayer for a loved one far away.
Take food to a local food pantry.
Take a trip to get the Christmas Tree.
Write a list of 10 things you are thankful for this year.
do you have an advent calendar? let me know how you countdown to christmas!
Linking up at the usual places!
