retrohipmama style: feeling vintage

some days i throw something on and other days i really take thoughtful consideration in picking my outfits. these are some of those days:

been on a navy blue kick. since grabbing a necklace from target and flats from payless, i have the opportunity to mix and match some complimentary colors.

never would have worn a dark cardi with dark jeans but it works with this white and coral striped shirt.

yah, that’s me trying to wink! πŸ˜‰

this striped shirt is normally a casual piece for me but today i felt like it needed some love. so my go-to 50’s style necklace and vintage button earrings gave it that feel. but the bandanna is what pulled it all together.

inspired by the gorgeous women of the war eras, i tried a classic pin-up style and rolled back my bangs. i seriously feel most like myself when i wear this look.

going a bit more classic on this day. my cute multi-colored flats go perfect with my pink skinnies but it needed something to tone it down. a baby pink shirt under a tan and white striped button up. yep. and another touch of vintage with my gram’s cream beaded necklace.

another cute clearance find at old navy is this dotted shirt. i tried the pinup hair again and tossed on a red headband for the full rockabilly style.

can you say SCORE!!!??? i found this dress at old navy for $10.50! i wore it all day and into the evening it was so comfy! the tie fits at the just the right spot and the tiny pleats at the neckline add a little detailing that makes it blousey and hides any of those mommy trouble spots. of course, magenta earrings and a flower were completely necessary. don’tcha think?

kinda feeling boho with this outfit. new flip-flops in my favorite turquoise color with a brown base just screamed earthy for this warm-weathered friday. the straps are leather-like and are braided on the sides and that detail was the inspiration for the whole look (it might be hard to see). so i tossed my hair lightly with product for the not-so-done look, added a hint of brown eyeshadow to keep it light and secured a feather extension in my hair.

these last two weeks of outfits have made me so happy. the weather in northern california has been warming up and of course, that means cuter clothes. i can only stick my feet in boots for so long. i know the rain will return soon, but for now, i’m enjoying being able to dress for the springiness i’m feeling.

hope you put on something that made you feel fabulous!
