Welcome to the hop! All of us DT gals from Gossamer Blue are bringing you fun and fresh inspiration from the November kits!
This month, I’ve made a Christmas project from the woodland animal shapes that came in the Life Pages Themed Kit. Unfortunately this kit is sold out, but I will still link it up so you can see the products if you’re interested in knowing.
My Christmas theme this year is LUMBERJACK glam. Kinda cool, huh? What this means is woodsy, plaid and gold elements. When I saw the BasicGrey animal wood veneers, I just knew I had to use them for my decorations since I couldn’t see a way to sue them in my PL pages.
I started by picking up a raw wood sign and some wooden rectangles from Michael’s. I have some animals shapes pictured here that I didn’t use but you get the idea. The first thing I did was spray paint the wood sign and rectangles white since they were different shades of wood.
Then I painted the animal shapes black.
Next, I used my silhouette program to create the phrase “OH, DEER” and changed the settings to fabric.
And I cut the letters from this gorgeous plaid fabric.
I used fusable backing to strengthen the fabric and adhered them to the painted sign. In parts that didn’t stick well, I used a simple dot of hot glue. Tip: when ironing on painted wood, be sure not to touch the iron directly to the surface or it will melt the paint.
Continuing on with the hot glue gun, I used it to adhere each deer shape to the 3 white rectangles.
Now I have this cheeky and cute set of signs that will hang together when all the Christmas magic starts! And even if you can’t get your hands on these specific shapes, wood veneers are all the rage so find some that interest YOU and get crafty!
These girls have some amazing project – check them out and get inspired!!
