Print at Home Process // UPDATED + free template

Hey Crafty Babes!

For 2017 I decided to start printing my photos at home exclusively and have a fun video that takes you through my process from phone to desk. I bought a Canon Pixma iX6820 in December and I have loved having easy access to printing without having to wait for a lab to ship them and also I don’t have to pay for shipping.

I have not done the precise pricing calculations to compare printing online versus printing at home. What I do know is that the printer is purchased, I have plenty of ink and the photo paper is readily available and I don’t have to spend money each month to print. I know that some would say that I am spending money on printing because I’m using the supplies, but when money is tight I can still print and don’t have to wait until I have money to spend. For me, that’s what sealed the deal. I want my photos and I want them now! LOL!

I’ve seen so many discussions about how complicated it can be and it’s so much research to just get started. Then how do I get the most use out of my paper? What program is best? It becomes a lot of information! It’s a question I get a lot!

I’d love to show you how to make it easy to get started? Hopefully I can walk you through my process and you’ll find it to be super simple. Below are links to the supplies I use and mention in my video:
Canon Pixma iX6820
Additional ink cartridges
Semi-gloss photo paper

Check out my video below and see if any of this process makes you feel less intimidated by printing at home!

Oh, and to help make this process even easier for you, download the Photoshop template that I use here.

Keep on scrapping!

Gossamer Blue // how to use the kit printables

Hey crafty babes, Andrea here to give you a little tutorial on how to use those amazing FREE printables you get with your subscription email. If you’re not a subscriber then you are missing out on these beauties! Each monthly email comes with 2 printables – one for the Main Kit and one for the Life Pages Kit. Regardless of which kit you subscribe to you still get both printables.

My tutorial today takes you through the process of cutting these pieces out with your Silhouette. I have a cameo and it has been an amazing tool for my crafty sessions. I used to cut these out by hand but can now have a machine do all the work with just a few clicks.

Check out the video below for a full start to finish tutorial – but if you prefer a photo/text walk through, I have also provided that for you over on the Gossamer Blue blog. Hope you have fun cutting!

I hope you learned something that gets you using your silhouette! And look at the gorgeous elements you end up with!

Oh, and here’s a layout that showcases some of the super fun ways to use them on YOUR layouts!Photo Feb 21, 12 15 56 PM

project life organization // 3×4 card storage

hey there, ho there!

when i first showed you my scrap space, i showed you a few boxes full of 3×4 cards. they were not organized. just in there, willy nilly. i swore that was cool with me. but in fact, it was not.

it used to be. it used to be easy to keep track of what i had and where i last saw it.

but that notion no longer remains.

so during the extremely boring super bowl, i made some tabbed dividers with my silhouette and organized the heck outta my 3×4 cards. here’s what i came up with….and i made a video about it!

how do you organize your supplies? i find that when the types of supplies change, i will morph my organization style slightly. so since i have way more cards than i used to, i needed to expand. and that’s okay. 🙂 a little change is good for the soul.

have fun out there!

photo and letter collage with video tutorial

hey guys! i’m super excited to share a little project with you today!

i created this photo and letter collage to wrap up 2013 and after receiving so many requests for a tutorial, i decided to do my very first video tutorial. eeeeeeeek!!!

using photoshop elements 9, i created this 12×12 photo that i plan to place at the end of my 2013 project life album.

before i get to the video, i have a few disclaimers:
one // i’m super nervous so please be kind. 🙂
two // i’m using free software and the mic that’s built-in to my laptop. it’s not the greatest quality so let me know if there’s anything you don’t understand. thinking i will need to use a better mic if you guys dig these videos and i end up making more.
three // being a teacher was never an aspiration of mine. therefore, sometimes i don’t always explain things carefully or clearly. so if you need a bit more detail for this project, let me know. you can comment here or on instagram or at my facebook page. 🙂

okay, without further adiue….here’s how to make this cool photo project.

have fun and if you create one for yourself, post it to instagram and tag me so i can enjoy yours!!

have a great day!
